TV: Pardon the Interruption
4 monkeys
ESPN offers this show the main network, with multiple same-day rebroadcasts on the Duece (ESPN2, for those of you who’ve forgotten that lame attempt at hip branding). Columnist turned radio host Tony Kornheiser turns TV host, too, with fellow scribe Mike Wilbon. The show has a great gimmick: The rundown of topics to be covered is on the right side of the screen, along with a countdown clock. When the time runs out (topics usually get :90 or so), a bell rings, and Tony and Mike move on.

If you’ve read any of his stuff, you know Tony’s a funny guy. He’s a funny TV host too. And his relationship with Wilbon has led to some of the best bickering this side of the late Siskel and Ebert.

Some of the recurring gags are a little corny, but if you like your sports news with an opinion, and one often presented in a very funny way, check this show out.

I have always been a huge fan of Tony's and love the show, and have actually met Mike and I think he's pretty straight forward and tells it like he sees it. which offends some people

No offense or anything but Mike's comment on GTA: Vice City: "The people who put it together should be stoned in the street." is as worthy as a Canadian dollar. I hope he dies slow for stating opinions like that.

Obviously, I am a 45-year-old single mother and even my 11-year-old daughter knows that a video game is just that, a "game." My 21-year-old son has been a gamer since he was 6, as have I.

Grand Theft Auto Vice City is the funniest, most refreshing adult game in a long time (well, since the last GTA anyway).

Mr. Wilbon has his head up his proverbial ass when it comes to new innovation in video games. The young gamers have become adults and, sorry, Mario just doesn't cut the mustard any more.

Mike Wilbon is not racist, and he is one of the smartest hosts on television. Anyone that says that he is doesn't really watch the show, and should give it a chance. On his remark about GTA: Vice City, just let the man express his opinion because I love the game, but I don't think he is a proverbial ass for saying what he did.

No disrespect meant, believe me, but the Redskins against Jacksonville was a reminder that the Special Olympics are truly amazing. Is there something in the water--or air...?

PTI is a good sports show, and has a nice as well as a unique format. As for the hosts, they both come across as somewhat arrogant, but who isn't just a little in the television industry. They both need to let the other get his point across a bit more frequently before the other starts jabbering. I guess if they did that, they would have to change the name of the show, right?

For all of you that claim Wilbon is racist, and that he has his head up his ass, GET A FRICKIN' CLUE!!! Wilbon is quite possibly the greatest sports columnist of all time, and his comments that are thought to be racist are nothing more than him calling out the sports world for having actions that are racist. There are only 3 coaches in all of College football that are black. Anyone with a 4th grade education could see the corolation between that stat and racism. Wilbon just questions the sports world. As for Grand Theft Auto Vice City....It is a deplorable game, and no child under the age of 18 should play it. Wilbon has morals, and he should e commended for them, not ostricated.

To all of you that make idiotic claims, especially the fact that Wilbon is racist, please "Get your heads out from your proverbial asses.

Wilbon is not a racist. Give me a freakin' break. Just because TK said that "you hate whities" he was referring to the pitcher Ford. GTA is a terrible game. It has Hooks, blounts, and cusses. Wilbon and TK 4 Life, GTA sucks the proverbial ass

ALL I KNOW IS THAT WILBON ISN'T A RACIST AND TONY K IS FAT, BALD,AND ORANGE BUT TOGETHER THEY MAKE UP THE BEST SPORTS CRITIC DUO IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION, PERIOD!

Wilbon is the shizznit...if you say he's racist then you have some secret issues you need to deal with. Take what he says with a grain of salt...what other people think shouldn't upset you.

I've been reading Tony and Mike's columns for years and I'm so glad that they've hit the big time. I'm white. I don't think Mike Wilbon is a racist. I don't agree with his occassional groans on racial issues all the time (I don't believe you should tell ppl who to hire) but he blows Tony's away on PTI more often than not. I like him. Tony's good too, but together there's something magical about them.

PTI is the greatest sports show on and one of the best shows around PEROID ive met wilbon he aint a racist just cause he wants more black head coaches whats wrong with that most of the players are black Mike and Tony are awesome and as long as Disney doesn't tamper with the show it will be the greatest

PTI is my favorite show on TV and I watch it everyday. Mike and Tony are great to watch because they can always find a way to disagree. Mike can sometimes make ridiculous comments when he says certain teams should higher black coaches but I don't think that makes him a racist. Tony can be annoying the way he never watches a sporting event after 9 p.m. yet he always has such strong opinoins about them. Overall both of these guys are fun to watch. I have an suggestion though. Instead of bringing on David Aldridge when Wilbon can't make it they should bring in some sports fan off of the street so that maybe a little of competion could be maintained. David Aldrige knows the NBA but besides that he can't offer much.

why does tony kornheisr hate mexicans..........its so obvious......look at the tape..........tale

Posted by MARK VILLALON @ 06/14/2004 10:50 PM PST

Tony K and Mike W make good points as well as bad points. If you agree with everything they say then you don't have a true understanding of the issues. The whole theme of the show is ti debate the issues. That's their job. Form an opinion then go out and prove it.
Problem is, even though they bring up good stuff, they're still jerks. Both of them. All that yelling and screaming crap gets nothing accomplished. Two people cutting each other off trying to make a point. In the end what did you ge tfrom it?? Tired and confused with no answers. But then again, the show isn't designed to give answers.
